SHAFIQUL ISLAM, MS

 

Research Associate & M. Phil. Student

 

 

Mr. Shafiqul Islam is an M. Phil. student at the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Chittagong (BMB-CU) and working as a research associate at the Laboratory of Eukaryotic Gene Expression and Function (EuGEF Lab.) in the same department. He has completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Master of Science (MS) degree from the same university major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. He was started his research career in the final year of his undergraduate program through involving in clinical and basic research in the field of cancer biology at the EuGEF lab under the supervision of Professor Dr. ASM Noman. Later on, he was involved in the number of projects focusing the signaling pathways in cancer progression to identify the prognostic biomarkers for cancer patients and published a research article in Cell Death and Diseases Journal. Currently, he is doing the functional study of novel mutation in genes associated with head & neck squamous cell carcinoma under the supervision of Drs. ASM Noman, MM Hossain, and S Chowdhury. Besides, he is working for revealing the role of miRNAs in breast cancer progression and chemoresistance to uncover an unexplored chapter to tune existing treatment procedure as well as discovering new treatment strategies. Mr. Shafiqul is a life time member of Graduate Biochemists Association (GBA) and Bangladesh Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BSBMB).
