Nushrat Jahan accomplished her B.Sc. and M.S. degree from the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Her research career has been potentiated during her MS level at the Laboratory of Eukaryotic Gene Expression and Function (EuGEF), BMB-CU under the supervision of Dr. ASM Noman. During that time, she was engaged in understanding the molecular basis of cancer with epidemiological studies and to identify the role of sonic hedgehog (Shh), associated with a set of immunoregulatory molecules in the TNBC subtype. She was also involved and was one of the initiating members in the epidemiological study of total cancer scenario of Bangladesh at National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. on establishing how Versican (Vcan), a large Extracellular Matrix (ECM) proteoglycan regulates cell proliferation by using primary dermal fibroblast and to determine the molecular mechanism of cell growth in the presence or absence of various ECM molecules under the supervision of Dr. Hideto Watanabe at the Institute for Molecular Science of Medicine, Aichi Medical University, Japan.
In her free time, she enjoys travelling, reading novel, watching movies.
