Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Human Toxicology
Graduate Research Assistant,
Department of Radiation Oncology
University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA – 52242, USA.
Md Yousuf Ali completed his BSc and MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Yousuf worked in EuGEF lab, during his masters training, from June 2013 to August 2015. He then went on to complete his second master’s in biology from Southern Illinois University (SIU), USA. During his masters at SIU, Yousuf was awarded with a competitive research grant for graduate students (RGGS-2016). After completing his masters, he got admitted to the University of Iowa for his doctoral training. Currently, as a part of doctoral dissertation, Yousuf is investigating role of cytochrome c oxidase in radio-resistance mechanism in glioblastoma, a type of malignant brain tumor.
As part of his trainings in these graduate programs, he presented his research in different national and international conferences including Illinois Academy of Science Annual meeting 2016, 2017; Central State Society of Toxicology Meeting 2018, 2019; Society of Free Radical Redox Biology and Medicine annual meeting 2019. Notably, he was selected to give oral presentation in Illionois Academy of Science Annual Meeting 2017 and Central State Academy of Science Meeting 2019. Yousuf was awarded two travel grants for presenting his research in Society of Redox Biology and Medicine annual meeting in 2019 in Las Vegas, USA. Yousuf is also member of the Bangladesh Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BSBMB), Illinois Academy of Science (IAS), Society of Toxicology (SOT), Society of Free Radical Redox Biology and Medicine (SfRBM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
Outside research, Yousuf likes travelling and fiction writing. He also loves playing soccer.
