Mr. Rayhanul Islam Shimul, working as a Research Associate at the Laboratory of Eukaryotic Gene Expression and Function (EuGEF) Research group. He has completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Master of Science (MS) degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. He has started his research career in the final year of his undergraduate program with A Comparative Study on the Casein Content of Cross Breed Cows and published a research article in Global Journal of Science Frontier Research: Agriculture & Veterinary Journal. After completing his MS degree he joined Nestle Bangladesh Ltd. as an area nutrition officer. Then he joined Biomedical Research Foundation (BRF) as a Research Assistant. In BRF he worked on the Chikungunya outbreak (2017) in Bangladesh: Clinical profile, economic impact, and quality of life during the acute phase of the disease. After that, He joined Globe Biotech Limited as a Scientific Officer and was involved in producing biotherapeutic recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies (mAb), fusion proteins, and novel drugs as well. He has profound hands-on skills in PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, cell culture techniques, Cells adaptation, Screening methods, etc. (bacterial and mammalian platforms). Besides this, he made himself skilled in versatile tasks of a cutting edge technology i.e.: Process development, Process optimization, Process validation, Scale-up, Scale-down, batch run in bioreactors(batch and fed-batch mode) Stirred tank, WAVE or rocker model bioreactor, molecular diagnosis of protein through- Protein assay, Dot blot analysis, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis and so on. He also worked with An mRNA-based vaccine candidate against SARS-CoV-2 elicits stable immuno-response with single dose. and published a research article in the VACCINE journal. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).
